Day 7: Commit

The Greatest Year Challenge | Exclusively for members of Club 12 with Dean Bokhari

Welcome to Day 7, the final day of The Greatest Year Challenge.

Here’s what we’ve covered over the last 7 days of this challenge:

Now, you’ve got a decision to make…

You can go back to “business as usual.”

Or, you can get committed.

By the way, there’s a big difference between a wish and a commitment.

  • Hopes and wishes are weak - people tend to throw those words around without taking them seriously.

  • But a commitment holds more weight. When you’re truly committed to something, you do it no matter what.

So get committed

FULLY committed to building the kind of life you can be proud of.

Full commitment is like making a covenant with yourself – a contract that carries severe consequences if broken…

But when you honor that contract, you’re rewarded with the life of your dreams.

Actionable insights

Now, let’s seal and cement your commitment. Your challenge for today is to write a letter to your future self.

  1. Write a letter (or record a video) to your future self and date it exactly one year from today. Don’t write about what you wish will happen… Don’t write about what you’re hoping will happen. Reflect on your vision from Day 4, and write about what DID happen… By writing your letter in the past tense:

“I’m so proud you wrote that book.”

“I’m so proud you finally got in shape.”

“I’m so proud you launched your business.”

“I’m so proud you took the leap and found a fulfilling career to settle into.”

  2. Seal your letter + treat it like a contract. Once you’ve written your letter, place it in an envelope and seal it. Then, set a reminder to open it up exactly one year from today. (You can also write an email to yourself and schedule it to pop back into your inbox 12 months from today.)

  3. Get fully committed. Look at that rubber band on your wrist from Day 1… When you started this challenge, that rubber band represented TENSION (the stretch between where you are and where you want to be.) Now, it represents a BOND—a personal promise, a contract with yourself.

    • Look at the rubber band. Snap it against your wrist. And say out loud: “I COMMIT TO DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO MAKE MY FUTURE SELF PROUD.”

    • Keep your rubber band on at least until you hit your first major milestone or goal. Let it be a physical reminder that you’re no longer wishing for a great year—you’re CREATING one.

To your greatest year,
— Dean
